"Once I learned that we ingest 2.3 million microplastic particles per year just from plastic toothbrushes - making the switch was a no-brainer"

Gracie B - Verified Buyer

Here's your old plastic toothbrush...

That plastic bristle isn't as harmless as it looks. Every brush shreds microscopic plastic into your mouth, exposes you to BPA and endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and abrades your enamel and gums. Then it sits in a landfill for 500+ years. Twice a day, without you ever noticing.

... versus your new PureBristle®  Boar Bristle & Bamboo toothbrush

PureBristle® replaces every risk with something better: pure boar bristles that clean just as well, a biodegradable bamboo handle that's naturally antibacterial, and zero plastic, BPA, or nylon anywhere in the brush. Nothing toxic going into your body. Nothing lasting 500 years in a landfill.

Plastic Bristles Break Down and Invade Your Body

Every brush stroke turns your toothbrush into a microplastic delivery system. As plastic bristles degrade, they release tiny shards laced with toxins like BPA and phthalates - harmful chemicals linked to hormone disruption and chronic disease. These fragments are absorbed, and even enter your bloodstream, circulating through vital organs. Brushing your teeth shouldn’t mean exposing your body to synthetic toxins.

You're Ingesting 2.3 Million Microplastics Per Year - Just from Brushing

A PubMed-backed study revealed that a single plastic toothbrush releases an average of at least 2.3 million microplastic particles per year - that's approximately 3,192 particles entering your mouth every time you brush. These particles are invisible, highly toxic, and entering your body silently, every single day.

Microplastics Fuel Inflammation and Systemic Harm

Once inside, microplastics don’t just pass through. They accumulate, triggering oxidative stress, weakening your immune system, and disrupting your gut and hormone balance. Research links long-term exposure to chronic inflammation, fatigue, and even infertility - all from something as simple as brushing your teeth with plastic.

Built Without Plastic. Designed for Your Health

PRIMALS toothbrushes are crafted with a biodegradable bamboo handle and natural boar hair bristles - no plastic, no synthetics, and no toxic residue. They're completely free from BPA, phthalates, and microplastic shedding. Fully biodegradable and plastic-free from top to bottom, PRIMALS is made for those who care about what goes into their body - and what ends up in the environment.

Bought a set for my parents who are in their 70s. They were skeptical at first but now they're hooked. Mom says her gums don't bleed anymore and Dad appreciates the environmental aspect. Already ordered refills for them. Great gift for the health-conscious people in your life.

Lightweight and doesn't take up much space. I keep one in my travel bag permanently. Dries quickly too which is important when you're on the go.

The boar bristles seem to grab plaque better than synthetic ones did. My teeth feel cleaner after brushing. Hygienist noticed less buildup at my cleaning.

I upgraded everything in my routine. Filtered water, organic food, natural deodorant, clean skincare. Then realized I was still putting plastic in my mouth twice a day. This toothbrush was the final piece. Boar bristles, bamboo handle, zero toxins. Now my whole routine is consistent.

Used to throw away 4 plastic toothbrushes a year feeling terrible about it. This one is fully compostable. Small change but it feels good.

The handle is smooth, sturdy, and comfortable to grip. Doesn't feel cheap like some bamboo brushes I've tried. Quality craftsmanship.

What's so bad about plastic toothbrushes?

Plastic toothbrushes are made with nylon bristles and of course a plastic handle. Both plastic and nylon are derived from petroleum and contain BPA, phthalates, PFAS and many other carcinogenic and hormone disrupting compounds. As you brush your teeth with these nylon bristles - microplastic fragments are broken off, absorbed, and swallowed. Matter of fact, the average person ingests up to 88,000 microplastic particles every year from their plastic toothbrush alone. Here is the proof: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38092338/ Even worse, a newer 2025 study has now confirmed that plastic toothbrushes actually release up to 2.3 million microplastic particles per year. Proof: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0147651325010395 In result, you are unknowingly dosed with said toxic compounds daily. This is in addition to the fact that nylon bristles are much coarser than boar bristles and can cause enamel damage and a receding gum-line. Not to mention, the massive environmental damage that plastic toothbrush production and waste impose. Every year, 1 billion plastic toothbrushes are disposed of in the US alone, leading to over 50 million pounds of plastic waste. Since plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose, this leads to irreversible damage to our ecosystems.

How eco-friendly are these toothbrushes?

Every PureBristle toothbrush is 100% biodegradable, ensuring your daily oral hygiene routine leaves zero trace of plastic waste behind.

What's different about ours?

While other "bamboo toothbrushes" on the market claim to be clean or eco-friendly simply because they have a bamboo handle - that only solves half the problem since they still contain nylon bristles. Those nylon bristles are derived from petroleum and are harmful not only to the environment but to your systemic health due to their cancer causing and hormone disrupting properties. In addition, one of the main problems with other bamboo toothbrushes is that they do not dry properly which leads to molding. However that is not an issue whatsoever with our PureBristle Boar Bristle Toothbrushes. Since our toothbrush is designed to stand on its own, and is sealed on the bottom with a non-toxic paint - it drys quickly and efficiently so it lasts longer than any other toothbrush on the market.

Does it work as well as an electric toothbrush?

Yes-and even better. One reason we created the PureBristle Boar Bristle Toothbrush is because electric toothbrushes emit EMFs (electromagnetic fields) right next to your brain-daily. Studies show levels can reach 70–90 µT near the head, and long-term exposure has been linked to poor sleep, reduced focus, and neurological stress. PureBristle keeps it clean and primal-no electricity, no EMFs, no toxins. Just natural boar bristles and a bamboo handle that protect your health while keeping your teeth fresh the way nature intended.

How long does it last?

Our PureBristle Boar Bristle Toothbrush lasts longer than any other toothbrush on the market. While plastic toothbrush bristles fray out over time, making them unsafe to use due to microplastic fragmentation which puts you at risk for the host of chemicals in nylon bristles - our PureBristle Boar Bristle Toothbrushes do not have this issue as we use 100% natural bristles. Not to mention, due to the free-standing design of our bamboo handles and the non-toxic paint seal on the bottom of our toothbrushes - our toothbrushes dry quickly & effectively after each use - making them last longer than any other bamboo toothbrush on the market. Overall, we recommend you swap out your PureBristle Toothbrush every 2-3 months for optimal cleanliness - meaning each 4-pack can last you up to a year each.
